The goose down that insulates this gilet is made up of large spherical clusters of the soft under-plumage of gray geese, each cluster with thousands of soft, heat-trapping filaments. This is why goose down has been the champion of lightweight warmth for centuries. We only use responsibly sourced goose down which means that the geese that supply it are treated humanely, never plucked alive or force-fed. All of our goose down is traceable and certified to follow the RDS (Responsible Down Standard) and is processed in bluesign® approved facilities.

The shell of our Down Cruiser Vest is constructed primarily of Cover Cloth, our lightest oil-finish waxed fabric, fully saturated with our special wax blend to ensure maximum water resistance. We used Shelter Cloth, our medium weight oil finish fabric, for the pockets and lower back for added durability. Merino wool lines the collar, so the neck feels warm even if the snow blows under the hat brim. The front pockets are laid out much like our work vests, with side hand and undercarriage pockets with snap flaps and utility slit pockets. It's covered in 1.4-ounce ripstop nylon that's so light it's virtually unnoticeable apart from the comfort it provides.
